The Kanten are one of the only autotrophic races in Galactic Society at this time. They are relatively young, best known as gardeners and skeptics of the Galactic Library. Mainly because of this they have become allies with odd Earthclan.
Kanten are autotrophs with a carbon-oxygen metabolism common to vegetation across the Five Galaxies. Standing 10 feet tall, the Kanten are semi sessile, but can move and manipulate tools with knobby prehensile rootlets. The Kanten's foliage is lined by silver ball-like sensory nodes which are used for sight and hearing. Unlike many other plants, the Kanten are not completely sessile, so it must physically draw in air to convert into oxygen for a very animal-like circulatory system. The outlet at the top of the foliage has been modified to accompany speech.
Kanten have a few colonies on various worlds with peak conditions for autotrophic life.
