Originally from Urchakka, the Urs are an ambitious race due to their short lifespan of no more than 25 years. They are determined to form a strong legacy, and resemble Humans in their hastiness. That is where the similarities stop, though. Urs have shown open contempt for Humans and all of Earthclan.

Urs live in a matriarchal system. The females are sentient and stand about four to five feet high while the tiny males live only inside marsupialoid pouches on the females. The females claim males to be non-sentient.

Urs are six limbed marsupials with four hoofed legs and two arms. The head of an Urs is radially summetrical. Atop the narow skull is a compond eye. On either side of the head are smaller simple eyes. At the end of the snout is a triple jawed mouth with needle teeth used to draw native Urchakkan blood (the main staple of Urs). Underneath each arm is a breeding pouch which contains either one or two "husband" males or a mass of pre-larval infants.

The breeding habits of Urs are different from most mammalian races. Due to the short lifespan, female Urs have hundreds of larva at a time. One or both husbands are ejected from the pouch while there are pre-larval infants. After a weeks gestation, the hundreds of larva are ejected to fend for themselves. If the tiny larva survive long enough to molt into Urs shape, they may be adopted by a herd. Many mammalian races find this sort of reproduction calous, but it is quite common in arthropoidal races.

Due to the arrid climate of their homeworld, Urs and all Urchakkan life have an ingrained revulsion of water in its purest form and drink only blood.

After stricter laws were passed to enforce Urs reproduction limitations several hundred years ago, many renegade herds fled to begin sooner colonies. One is believed to be still living on Jijo.
