The Humans of Terra are one of the greatest surprises to Galactic society in the last few million years. They are the only living race to be known as Wolflings. Humanity came very close to annihilating itself and its homeworld Earth, in the centuries before contact. Without guidance from a patron, the humans experimented with many sorts of governments, religions, and philosophies that no Galactic would ever dream of. Humans have also gained notoriety for the nasty habit of gleefully finding loopholes in the information of the Galactic Library and then exploiting the resulting temporary advantage in most unsporting ways. They believe the Library to be considerably overrated. A fully unpopular opinion, but one they seem to be sticking to, and have been since contact.

Humans are bilaterally symmetrical, omnivorous, oxygen breathers from mammalian descent. They bear an uncanny but superficial resemblence to their allies the Tymbrimi. A few Humans also have a small bit of empathy sense, although its use is severely hindered by Wolfling superstition and distrust. Male Humans are called "mels," females are "fems" and the genderless pronoun is "man."

Humans have mimiced the age-old patterns of Uplift in their own awkward ways with two species native to Earth- the chimpanzees and bottlenose dolphins. The oldest of these clients is no more than 300 years old, yet they give unheard of freedom to them. In less than 200 years, the humans have founded their own clan, called Earthclan. With two clients, humans were on the verge of becoming Senior Patrons. Most Senior Patrons in the Five Galaxies were shocked that this could happen, so the treaty that brought Humans into Galactic Society contained a clause that stated that Humans could not take any more Clients for a very long time. With the violent Galactic reaction to most Wolflings, they believed that Humans would not survive long enough to take another and gain Senior Patron status. The Garthlings (formerly Gorillas) originally came from Earth also, and were one of the Humans' next top candidates for sapiency. They are now Clients, and their odd arrival into the Galaxy led to an alliance with the Thennanin.

As Wolflings, humans lack patrons. A curious idea called Darwinism emerged on backwards Earth hundreds of years before contact. This idea stated that an animal could evolve intelligence, contrary to what we now hold to be true. This idea has mainly died out, except by a core of human heretics. Whoever humanity's lost patrons are, if they turn up they will be severely punished for leaving an unfinished race alone for so long.

Humans are currently persecuted across the galaxy, with only four agknowledged allies: the Tymbrimi, Synthian, Thennanin, and Kanten; all held to be odd races themselves. When the first human colony outside of the Sol system was contacted, the Wolflings reacted hostilely and many humans and Galactics were killed. Leading from this first incident, humans and their Clients have many sworn enemies already, including the notorious Soro, Tandu, and Jophur.

Humans live on all Earthclan colonies to govern and see to the Uplift of chims and fen.
A few human factions are attempting an ambitious project by terraforming the planet Sol IV, or Mars. There are colonies living in pressure domes, but the terraforming project is drawing amusement from many of the senior races who see this as foolish and impossible.
