One of the youngest members of the Soro clan, the Pring have gained a reputation as the greatest potential military force in recent eons. The fact that the Pring have an incredible built-in weapon in each member of the race has scared many older races, who have called for strict control of Pring abilities.

The Pring originated on the planet of the same name. Every species on Pring is cyclopeal, so in order to effectively use depth peception, they devised a way to project low powered lasers from their single eye. Whether developed as a weapon by their Patrons the Pila or as a fluke byproduct of Uplift, the power in the lasers has increased since the Pila manipulated their genes for binocular vision and are now capable of producing beams from holograms to lethal line of sight laser blasts. This unusual power was only discovered only two hundred years ago during the Sundiver incident. Since then the Pila and Soro have tried to stifle investigations into the Uplift of the Pring. One fact that has surfaced is that the Pila had suppressed their Clients even more than usual and condemned the small Pring colonies to barren Type A worlds devoid of life. It seems that by this time the Pila may have known about their unusual powers and kept them confined to places where they could be monitered. Of course the Pila deny this.
